Distance is a way of life. Artist Bio

Cristian Ekman from Alingsås, Sweden is Distance Is a Way of Life. He's also a member of 1969 Armstrong, Bolywool, December's Children, Homelake and Valla. He started this project in 2005, when he felt that he wanted to do something on his own. He had made a couple of new songs, but he felt that they did not fit in with other songs he had written to his other bands. This is basically the reason he started this, and you may call it a solo project or whatever. The songs are often rather basic and sparse, regarding arrangements and production, with vocals, harmonies, layers of guitars, and a tambourine or other means of percussion.

DIAWOL first recorded some lo-fi demosongs on a portal studio in the autumn of 2005. Since, he has remixed some of his own songs, mixed and played guitar on his friend Valla's EP's and recorded new EP's with 1969 Armstrong, Bolywool and Homelake. December's Children is on hiatus since 2005.

Between March and May 2008 he recorded four new songs, these can be found on the EP Phases. In October 2009, Bolywool released their debut album, Through a Century. To Cristian, Bolywool is priority number one. Because of this and other things, DIAWOL is on hiatus since the summer of 2009. Cristian can also be heard playing guitar on an upcoming album with Valla, it will probably be released in early 2010.
